Privacy policy

This page describes how SideIncomeStrategies handles reader information, what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

When you subscribe, we store your email address with our email service provider, Brevo, who processes it on our behalf so we can send you the newsletter. Your email address is never sold, and it is never sent to analytics or advertising services. You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email, or by writing to us.

Signup attribution

Alongside your email address, we record where a signup came from so we can understand which guides and placements are useful. This is limited to: the signup source and form placement, the page address and title, the content category, campaign parameters in the link you arrived through (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), the referring website, and the signup timestamp. This information is stored with your subscriber record and is used only to improve the site and our newsletter. It is not used for cross-site tracking or advertising.

Contact form

When you send a message through the contact form, we store the name, email address, subject and message you submit, together with a one-way technical identifier used only to limit automated abuse. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not sold or shared for marketing purposes.

Cookies, storage and analytics

We group non-essential technologies into two categories you can control: Analytics (aggregated measurement of how guides are found and read, and which newsletter placements convert) and Marketing (advertising and retargeting technologies, none of which are in use today). Necessary storage — page delivery, security, form submission, and remembering that you dismissed a prompt or set your privacy choices — is always active because the site cannot function without it.

Our analytics provider is Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google), measurement ID G-CL95S0ZFMP. When the Analytics category is permitted, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*, valid up to two years) and processes pages viewed, referring links and campaign parameters, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, device and browser type, and a randomly generated identifier used to count returning visits. We have IP anonymisation enabled and Google Signals (cross-device advertising features) disabled, and we do not use Google Analytics data for advertising.

We use Google Consent Mode: before you allow the Analytics category, analytics storage is set to denied and the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all. If you later withdraw consent, the denied state is sent to Google immediately and no further analytics events are collected.

Analytics events contain page and placement information only — for example the newsletter signup event records the form type, form placement, page address and content category. Your email address and other identifying details are never included in them, and newsletter signup works regardless of your Analytics choice.

Where you are matters

Consent requirements differ by location, so the site applies the rules for your region. In the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland and other opt-in jurisdictions, nothing in the Analytics or Marketing categories runs until you allow it. In US states with comprehensive privacy laws, we provide notice and a working opt-out, including an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. Where your location cannot be determined, we apply the strictest setting.

Your choices are enforced, not just recorded: turning a category off prevents that data from being collected at all. You can change your choices at any time using the Privacy settings link in the site footer.

Affiliate links

Pages containing affiliate links may set cookies belonging to the merchant when a link is clicked. Those cookies are governed by the merchant's own privacy policy.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from any email at any time, request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us at info@sideincomestrategies.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
